Bio:

Lucius Aemilius Rufus was born third son to the wine merchant Secundus Aemilius Rufus, and his wife, Lesbia. He was raised on the Viminal in Rome, where he worked as an assistant to his father, as well as informally employed by Primus Thoranius Invicti as a gatherer of rumours and valuable information. Upon the death of his father, who left the first son, Gnaeus, in charge of the family business, Lucius elected to go with his friends Etrusicus, Gaius, and Marcus, to Liberportus, hopefully to one day start a business of his own.

He is currently living in an apartment in the Merchant's district of Liberportus along with his slave Antigone wife Quinta, daughter of his former employer Quintus Hortensius, and his two sons, Manlius, and Spurius. He performed basic errands and business deals for Quintus, who was well established in Liberportus as a wine merchant. After Quintus retired, the Vinum Hortensium was left to Lucius. Lucius <strike>may have a case of the crazies</strike> is completely insane.

After encountering Hastur himself, Lucius' last grip on sanity was shattered. He is now extremely paranoid, and only trusts Etrusicus, Gaius, Titus, and Zahir. Just barely. He is only comfortable around the Elder Sign, or some apotropaic symbol. He almost constantly checks to make sure his wedding band is still on his wrist, as if looking for some, or any stable, constant thing in the world.

Lucius and his friends pursued Lissenius Proculus beyond the known world and to the Plateu of Leng. During the journey he racked his brain about whether or not Hastur is right for the world. When finally confronted with The Yellow King, he decided: yes. Hastur is the way. However, after struggle among his own compatriots, he was struck unconscious and Gaius  – the fool! – led the King astray. First, however, he slaughtered his best friend  – Etrusicus – in cold blood. Titus too tried to deceive the King, but the King saw through his ruse and slit his throat.

Lucius lived the rest of his life in regret for not leading the King to his new domain. He studied feverishly, trying to find an alternate way, but to no avail. Between his maddening studies, however, he managed to compile a book of his adventures, using his own and his former compatriot's notes: CREDO QVIA ABSVRDVM EST.
